I do love the taste of a margarita, but don’t love all of the calories and sugar in a traditional margarita. I adapted this recipe from Bethenny Frankel’s Skinnygirl Margarita in her book Naturally Thin. Great recipe, but I found that just a few changes made it easier to remember~and more likely that bartenders would have the ingredients in stock so I could have these even when I’m out (most bartenders will gladly mix this up for you).
Feel free to customize this to your liking, but be mindful of how you may be affecting the sugar, sodium and alcohol levels with any adaptations. Some suggestions: Substitute fresh orange juice for the liqueur. Increase the club soda to tequila ratio.
Rub the rim of the glass with a lime wedge and dip in salt or raw sugar. Blend all ingredients in a blender for a blended (rather than on the rocks) margarita.
