December Daily Tip #15–Size Does Matter!

Despite what we’ve all been told, size DOES matter…when it comes to the size of your plate, that is.  Portion Distortion affects more than just what we eat; our plates have actually become bigger over the years.  (I have a friend who bought new plates only to discover that they wouldn’t fit into her older model dishwasher!).  If “leaving a little behind” is hard, simply use a smaller plate

Folks who use smaller plates report that they are still satisfied with the smaller serving and tend to eat less overall–the smaller plate “tricks” our brain into thinking we had a heaping serving and contributes to satiety.  (Kudos to Sarah for reminding me of this one!)
